From September, the Basket-Club Lamboisières-Martin (LMB) will set up a Basket Health department in Saint-Jean-de-Linières, near Angers (Maine-et-Loire). It will be dedicated to curative and preventive benefits to maintain or improve physical ability. Adapted to the possibilities of everyone, regardless of their physical, psychological and social abilities, Health Basket is aimed at retired seniors who want to start, maintain or resume a common physical activity. “This is how seniors can get back in shape, develop their mobility and limit cardiovascular risks thanks to one-hour sessions”, announces Théo Cadeau, Head of Development.
“Fun exercises, gentle movements”
“Fun exercises, smooth movements, ball games and balance exercises are conducted with respect for the physical integrity of each participant. , underlines Perrine Barré, animator employed by the club, who has been trained in this new discipline. It is a return to the basics of health through sport for ex-practitioners, beginners or people with adapted needs. »
The aim of the LMB is the development of sport for everyone: “For this reason, we are committed to focusing our interventions on a practice linked to basketball, continues Théo Cadeau. After conducting a survey of health professionals in the field, we found that few physical and athletic activities were intended for seniors. »
