The opening of this “ghost kitchen” is planned for the last quarter of this year, which will give pride of place to many cuisine styles.

Ghost kitchen, dark kitchen, cloud kitchen, … In recent years, neo-gastronomers have doubled their inventiveness to attract as many customers as possible with terms that are not always understandable to the general public. In concrete terms, the term “dark kitchen” picks up on almost all of the characteristics of the aforementioned business types. Understand that these are virtual restaurants, establishments dedicated to the delivery and takeaway of meals.

A tenant for the restaurant was found.

A new restaurant (named “Six-Seven”) is scheduled to open in July 2022. But the mystery still surrounds the identity of the investor who decided to bet on the roof of the Galeries Lafayette in Luxembourg City.

The Belgian restaurant chain Casper, founded in 2020, is one of the giants in the industry. The latter recorded a 210% increase in sales in 2021 with more than 230,000 dishes prepared. Casper seems to have sniffed the right vein, with a Euromonitor study predicting that the global ready meal delivery market will be worth $1 trillion by 2030.

The chain wants to expand in the Benelux countries in the coming months and years. It has just announced the raising of 5 million euros for its development. In addition to future locations in the Netherlands, Casper has also announced the opening of a restaurant in the Grand Duchy. In fact, the opening of a first location in Luxembourg is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022 and will be located in the capital.

In the family we knew the father Frank, the son Tom is now the daughter Lisa. She’s the one who just got the group’s new restaurant in her gravy. In the heart of the capital, the “Mezzanine du Boulevard” opens on January 6th.

In concrete terms, future customers of the first Casper in Luxembourg can order from 10 types of virtual restaurants immediately after the opening – whether with delivery or to take away. The chain ensures there’s something for everyone: baked pasta, burgers, healthy salads, bagels, and even an all-vegan brand. “Orders can be placed directly through the virtual restaurant or through Casper, allowing consumers to combine different brands in one order and one delivery,” Casper said in a statement.

In addition to a zero waste policy and an effort to favor short circuits, the chain guarantees very fast deliveries within 30 minutes. “Of course we are proud of what we have achieved, but we also know that we still have a lot to achieve. This fundraising will enable us to accelerate our expansion into new markets and respond to continued growth in demand. We will open new locations in Benelux and France and by 2024 we plan to operate 50 locations internationally. It’s an ambitious project, but we’re ready to make it happen,” says Matthias Laga, co-founder and CEO of Casper.

The hybrid kitchen chain is currently active in Belgium in Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven, Brussels, Liège and Bruges and works with platforms Takeaway, Deliveroo and Uber Eats to deliver their dishes.
